Rocketfarm palletizing solution with UR10e and Piab gipper

Hawaii S.R.L. is an Italian cosmetics company specializing in cleansing products. Some years ago, they added a collaborative palletizer to their production line.

We recently spoke with Cristian Rossi, who oversees the manufacturing process to ensure everything runs smoothly at Hawaii S.R.L.

He shares that they initially utilized the Universal Robots palletizing template on their Universal Robots palletizer to streamline their manufacturing line. According to Rossi, the template was very complicated to use yet highly customizable.

– It took some time to get used to, but we eventually got the hang of it. The template allowed us to customize the palletizer according to our needs, which was beneficial, Rossi says.

More manageable and efficient

After three years of using the Universal Robots software, they saw the need to upscale their productions and therefore decided to purchase another robot and duplicate the palletizing system.

Their distributor, Alumotion, suggested switching to Rocketfarm’s Pally software for the second robot, which proved more manageable and efficient during testing. As a result, the company decided to retrofit its first solution with Pally as well.

With Pally, the robot worked as before, but minor box changes were more straightforward for them to execute. The primary benefit Rossi noted after switching to collaborative robots was labor-saving, as the robot could palletize products without human intervention. However, the downside was that it was no longer 100% customizable.

Despite the cobot solution’s limitations, Hawaii S.R.L. employees agree that collaborative robots greatly help the manufacturing process.

A Great help

– Our employees appreciate the palletizer’s efficiency and how it simplifies the production process, Rossi remarks.

For companies evaluating collaborative palletizing solutions, Rossi recommends verifying that personnel is qualified to use it.

– It’s crucial to have personnel familiar with and able to operate the technology effectively. Additionally, companies should ensure that the solution they choose is compatible with their manufacturing line and meets their requirements, Rossi says as advisement.

In conclusion, Hawaii S.R.L. successfully integrated collaborative palletizers into their manufacturing line to streamline production, reduce labor costs, and increase efficiency. While there were some challenges, the benefits outweighed them, and the employees embraced the solution.
